Bahir Dar
565 kilometres north of Addis Ababa, Bahir Dar provides the venue and starting point for the majority of northern Ethiopian tours. Located on the verge of the Lake Tana, the largest lake in Ethiopia. The city is surrounded by cool mountains. The town has a well-served airport that connects it to Addis Ababa and the entire north of the country. Visitors from different corners of the country and foreign travlers from every tip of the world come to visit the city and island monasteries on the lake Tana. Beside the boat seal to the monasteries on the islands and peninsula people also make a half day trip to Blue Nile Falls.
